My involvement with photography began in the late 90s with a 35mm Pentax Spotmatic. Before long, I went digital like everyone else, but in the last 4-5 years I’ve made a return to film, and I’m now a hybrid shooter, moving with ease between a fully manual 4×5 film camera and a modern digital camera system. I use Photoshop, and high end scanners, a myriad of lenses and gadgets to help with photography but the number one tool I can use is my vision. It’s a vision for not just how a scene does look, but how it could look. The trick then is to capture it in camera as correctly as possible, because great photos are made in camera, not in photoshop. Photoshop certainly offers some great tools; but the best tool a photographer can have is their vision and conceptualization of a photo.
